I have been a photographer for eleven amazing years now. And have been shooting beauty and bridal boudoir photography for a little over half of that time. I began asking women a series of questions regarding their experiences. I thought I could improve the ambience from the feedback, and even learn a little more about each and every woman’s journey. Reading this feedback is often some of my favorite moments. Tangible evidence on what makes my job so fulfilling. This time around, I asked H, what this shoot meant to her, and why she made the decision to do it.
I am sharing her response with you because when I read it, it made me pause. 6 years, 2,190 days, and I could never pinpoint the words quite as elegant as she did. Thank you so much for the wonderful day, H; but even more so, thank you for finding the words.
xx ~L
“I’ve always been a nostalgic person – I love old photos, I keep ticket stubs and mementos. When it came to getting a boudoir session, I had a dear friend who encouraged me, referencing her own shoot she’d down nearly five years ago and how much she still loves the pictures. When I think forward hopefully many years down the road, I’ll have photographs of our wedding day, I’ll have letters and vows and other mementos that capture the emotional and public part of our relationship, but these photos will let me capture the harder to memorialize physical and intimate aspect of our relationship as we start our marriage together.” ~H
One of my favorite things to capture during any session are some behind the scenes. Photographing small moments between my hair and makeup artist and clients. Without this amazing team of women I work with, sessions just wouldn’t be the same. I truly am thankful I have the opportunity to work with them and see them use their talents first hand.
